Driving Decency
i feel that a civilized society is recognised how it behaves on the road. whether on a vehical or as a pedestrian, if citizens are law abiding then the society is based on honest and just platform.
i also feel that this should be started from school & family levels. the issue is that even a lot of families don't know the right behaviour on road. so school & colleges are the best places to do that.
It's a good idea to start from school/family but why only traffic rules?? it should be more broad like inculcating good habits for making children a better citizen of future But children always watch the action of parents and others and they are usually sceptical of sermons so we need to practice what we preach not only for our children but to make our society a better one
This whole idea looks simplistic. While its really true that society shall be only as good as we make it, vice-versa is not negligible. We too operate in a context provided by society and that places some restrictions on our choices. The world has still not come out of struggle for survival, where ethics take a back seat. And here too right choices shall dpend upon the stations in life different people are. So, we should make rules and provide such environment which consistently promotes compliance and penalizes non-compliance. What to teach children will definitely vary as per who the parents are. But what we want our citizen to be is the only thing that can be impaced by the system.
i don't think that you are wrong, but i am not even sure that you are right. Actually i could not get what you very passionately want to communicate. it may look very simplistic to you but what you are saying is very complecated. i feel that this smple theory could have been propogated in some simple ways to allow it to go inside people like me. thanks
